Bali Spirit Festival 2009
Yep. I'll be flying off next Wednesday to go to Bali Spirit Festival 2009. It's an annual festival in Ubud, Bali, dedicated to yoga, dance and music. I'll be performing two sets in the fest. There's a whole lot of other musicians from around the world. I'm quite excited and very much looking forward to it. This will be my second time in Ubud. First time was during the Ubud Writers Fest in 2005. It's always a lot of fun being asked to perform at festivals. My last time performing in a fest was last year's Urbanscapes at KLPac which was so much fun (even though I had the worst hangover from drinking too much on my birthday... ha ha ha).

Also performing at Bali Spirit Fest is my fellow Sabahan Mia Palencia!

:-)

And of course on the top of my list of priorities while in Ubud is to try babi guling!

Society of the Spectacle... update
This is a bit of a non-event but "Society of the Spectacle" is currently being laid out in Microsoft Word... ha ha ha.

It's my second chappybook of poems for 2009. I don't know how much longer this sudden publishing frenzy is going to last. I've started writing for my third chappy... but maybe I should take a break...

This new one is inspired by Malaysian politics, especially now... and what's been happening in the past year. I borrowed the title from Guy De Bord's book, "Society Of The Spectacle" .... which I haven't even read yet... ha ha ha... I'm such a loser... ha ha ha...

Oh I love the chaos and confusion!

At any rate... hmm... there are 26 poems altogether... most of them written very fast and direct or whatever... a bit crude also in many places... lol...

I don't know what to do for the cover yet... this one of a skeleton angel I stole from somewhere doesn't quite fit.

So far I've posted some of the poems appearing in the chappybook on my Imaginary Poem blog and on Facebook.

I'll post some more... here's one...

Sex Game

If you want me, you have to come and find me
among the rubble
of missing bodies and nameless ones.

On top of the mountains of never ending
court documents.
That’s where the pieces of me
will be.

And when you’ve put the charred pieces
of my beautiful body back together,
you can ask me:
“Why did you have to go and get yourself blown up?”

And I would answer: “Well,
I didn’t want to speak. So they forced a gun in my mouth.
And then they asked me the question
one more time.”

A Different Beat - New song uploaded to MySpace
My old hard drive crashed sometime in December last year during a most traumatic period in my life. Sigh.

:-(

Aside from losing at love, I lost a few music projects. Including the Nuendo project file for this song that I wrote and recorded sometime in December 2007. This one managed to survive the drive crash thanks to me having emailed it to a friend. So... yeah... I was intending to rework the song a bit more and recording it for real in some fancy shmancy studio... complete with an Extreme Makeover turning Jerome the folkie into some disco bunny. But that's a story that will probably not happen... it's all MIDI programming and yeah (the budget for my bunny ear transplant was spent instead on a new hard drive). Like my ex would've said: c'est la vie!

For what it's worth, here it is, uploaded onto my MySpace... a housey kinda dancey song - "A Different Beat"

Enjoy!
